The Alchemist's Rap

I wrote this rap when I was 17 yrs old. Just thought of it the other day.

Embedded audio is not working for Google Drive. I followed two tutorials but it didn't work. So here's the direct link to the sound file. 

Update 4/1/2016: Seems like that link never worked. The .m4a file format wouldn't embed, so I converted to .mp3 and now it should play.

The Alchemist's Rap

At 14, I had big dreams lookin' for same peeps
I said, show me the world and how it moves so I can lift it.

Where we'll go, I don't know...
But I'll be there till the end,
Wonderin' this and that:
How to live?
Be a friend?

Life and death - if it only was that easy.
Fear and Sin will take the only life that's easy.
Remorse and Doubt come slow but surely.
What this life is all about...
Figure it out. See clearly.

My days as an outcast...
I could never fit in.
Show me twice, I'd bite!
But there's got to be meaning in the things we say
And how we do.

Never cross a bullet if it's coming for you.
Show respect.
Do you know what I can do?
Think twice.
Act right.
And when you do? Keep quiet.

Keep yourself in check, and your thoughts in line...
All this hate in my heart that I tried to hide.
Lettin' it out. Face me, don't fight it.
It's wearing me out.
Be strong and I will guide you
Then show me light alright?
It's dark until the end of the tunnel.

But you never need to worry 'bout where you gonna go...
Life's a journey. Yeah - and this I know -
Life in the end is just the same.
All good, all bad - just a lesson to be had.

Still, I pave the way for a greater generation.
The drugs and sex are just another complication.
Life's lessons don't pass in blood, but sweat!
When everything is crazy you just gotta keep your head.

Walk straight, talk plain, and do what you gotta do...
To break through, be true...
And never lose you!
