Royalty of the Road

Wednesday, May 25th
Roseburg, OR to Canyonville, OR

The view over Myrtle Creek, OR.

Llama farm?

Covered bridge. Myrtle Creek, OR.

These things are tourists attractions, only because a small number survived. This particular bridge is a modern reconstruction on the site of the original.

Millsite park. Myrtle Creek, OR.

Playing flute at an outdoor concert stage at the park.

Beautiful, beautiful day!

Shower at a state campsite. Got ready for some fine dining at a casino down the street.

Seven Feathers Casino. Canyonville, OR. I like how these places make you feel a high roller, a big spender, a real somebody. I felt like royalty. I had it made!

I had a Player's Club card. Got me $5 off the buffet. Then the Casino paid me $4 in cash winnings using complimentary free play credits. All in all, I left with a full stomach for $5. Woohoo! Bringing down the house.

Ulix. We made it, buddy!

The dessert was wonderful. Apple pie, warm apple cobbler, chocolate chip coffee swirl cake, local ice cream from Umqua, hot fudge and whipped cream and nuts, yummy chocolate chip cookies. Mmmm.

Wednesday morning campsite. Front yard of a property for sale.

Using the new sleeping bag really helps!

Shopping with baggage. I tell cashiers the red bags are "gifts free with purchase".

They switched the "Mind over matter" shirt from my last post for this more explicit instruction the next day. It's like they're targeting my shopping patterns.

Tuesday night.

I tried camping at a bus stop at the edge of town. A closed convenience store where a car pulled up. A guy in a wheelchair watched me from a distance. I got up and talked to him. He wouldn't respond, not after five greetings.

"Okay then," I told him and packed up my things. Not about to sleep with this sketchy guy watching. Another guy came out from behind a car and they walked away. Not sure if whether I was the suspected predator or the escaped victim in this case.

$20 Prom dresses at the thrift shop. My heart melted with feels. Everyone deserves a prom night, no matter how hard the circumstances.

I dunno how these sign makers would feel if they knew how far I'm taking their words.

Wednesday night camp at a small local park.

Yay! Hammock.
WiFi? Out here? Rural Oregon middle of nowhere? To make my night complete? Yes! I'm rolling.

The guy across the street doesn't password protect, presumably because no one lives close enough to him for him to need security. Thanks, guy!
