Mt. 'See ya' Olympus

Sunday, May 1st
Hoh Rainforest. Olympic National Park, WA.

Woke up at the Hoh trail head. The trail to Mt. Olympus starts there and is something like 18 miles long. Only the first six miles were accessible, so I hiked it. It was boring out-and-back at the feet of Mt. Olympus. Nothing to see. Totally flat starting at zero elevation with no rise at all.

The day was hot. There were swarms of flying insects. I packed enough water to drown an ox. Wore my good shoes - actual hiking boots - and packed all my granola bars just in case I could find a way to get further down the trail. Nope, saw nothing but tourists.

I drove down the coastline. I'm in Aberdeen, WA now. I'm done. Time to escape this state and buy a bicycle in Oregon! : -)
