Update (2019/01/05) See easy solution for Android, iPhone, iPad, tablet, phone, PC, Mac, all devices
https://alchemytheory.blogspot.com/2019/01/all-devices-how-to-fix-dont-track-my.html
Symptom: You click the option to stop tracking your own pageviews in the Blogger dashboard. Then, you go to your blog and blogger tracks your view anyways.
Problem: Blogger either doesn't set a cookie because some setting is preventing it. Or it sets the cookie incorrectly with wrong values.
Solution: Manually edit/create the cookie using a browser add-on such as Cookies Manager+ for Firefox.
Procedure for Firefox:
Go get your cookie cutter: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookies-manager-plus/
Install it, restart browser, etc. Then open the add-on by pressing Alt key to bring up the Firefox menu bar, going 'Tools' then Cookies Manager+.
Find the cookie that has your blogger web address on it, like: yourDomainName.blogspot.com. The entry under 'Name' should say '_ns'. If it's not there, create one.
Make the cookie look like the one in the picture below. If you already have the cookie, chances are you just need to make two changes in boxes highlighted yellow.
Name: '_ns'
Content: '2'
Domain: 'yourDomainName.blogspot.com'
Path: (blank)
Send for: (dropdown menu) 'Any type of connection'
Http only: (dropdown menu) '...'
Expires: (dropdown menu) 'date'
(set some time in the future in a galaxy far far away)
Type: (dropdown menu) Normal cookie
Changes to an existing cookie
1. It's very important that the 'Path' entry be blank. So that any page on your blog will use the non-tracking cookie.
The mistake Blogger made with my cookie was the 'Path' was set to '/b/'. So only the page that set the cookie was not tracked, but every other page on my blog still tracked. *Facepalm*.
2. Set the 'Expires' to a specific date. So the cookie doesn't go away when you closer your browser, or logoff Google, or whatever else counts as the session expiring.
Procedure for anything other than Firefox:
Same thing. If not, then get Firefox. LOL. Sorry!
Stealth mode
Or if you want not to be tracked on someone else's Blogger, create a new cookie with their domain name and they can't see you visited them.
Try it out on me. I dare ya. I will track down your IP to your home address through your ISP and make you tell me in person how many times you came to my site. And I'll know if you're lying. You know very well you remember exactly how many times a day you look at my blog. Admit it.
I already know what you'll say, 'cause that number is zero. :P
I didn't view this post so don't count this one
ReplyDeleteMy Internet Explorer bugged out while page was open to my blog and I got 50 page hits at midnight for no reason. So I'll blame it on your browser doing things on its own while you are away from your computer. :^)
