Cottage Grove, OR to Roseburg, OR.
Ulix discovers a peacock.
At the Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park outside of Oakland, OR.
The peacocks guarded the former ranch. There's one who stands at the main road keeping lookout.
When a car drives by, they all call out. Sounds like a 'meow' crossed with a chicken.
Peacock park
Ee-aow!
Ain't I pretty?
50 mile day. Cottage Grove, OR to Roseburg, OR.
Hilly. 2,500 ft rise in elevation and back down.
ducking rain in Oakland, OR. quack.
a flat tire. wtf is a Presta valve? bike pump wouldn't inflate the new tube. b'oh!
patched up the old inner tube instead. discovered that my tires are paper thin. shoulda installed that puncture resistant spare tire instead of leaving it in my car.
waking up at dawn at a park in Cottage Grove.
so many cars and people passed by me without calling cops or hassling me. I was surprised I was let alone for the whole night.
not much sleep at the park, though. had to catch my zzz's on the road once the sun came out.
Most dogs bark and run at me. An old dog sitting by a old man just looked away, uninterested. Been there, seen that. ♫ That don't impress me much. ♫
This dog ran away, up the road when he saw me. LOL. I slowed down as I passed him, turned to look over my shoulder and he whimpered as he ran away. The most skittish and pitiable dog I've ever met.
The road was buzzing near a power line tower. I think they buried capacitors underground.
L'il free library. I find these very quaint and charming.
"ON THIS SITE IN 1897 NOTHING HAPPENED"
Long day of travel.
Got into town and ate a cold dinner from Walmart at 10 pm. Cold all over. Sleepy in a nice way.
It's 11:40 pm. Got my saddle bags in a shopping cart in front of me. Sitting on a bench in the rear Walmart room by the bathrooms. Got WiFi. Got electricity.
I'd love a hotel room. My bank account rolls over in its grave and its ghost says no.
A night train on the railroad stopped traffic for twenty minutes. I took out my flute. Maybe I could get a hotel room if I played during the day for a while.
I've wanted to try out all the pop songs I got from the library last month. Sunny California weather, please. Sandy beaches and flip-flops on the boardwalk too.
G'nite. I'm closing my eyes. G'nite. My head is tilting. But where will I go? Where could I sleep? G'nite. G'nite. Don't worry.
G'nite.
Ain't she a beaut of a cock.
ReplyDeleteWas that dog injured? Poor little pal might need some help.
You'd get a good night's sleep if you had a tent and found a campsite. Imagine sitting by a campfire roasting some peacock.
