Every melody tells a story. This one came to mind. I will post it as it hit me - interpretative...
There is a puddle of water in an oubliette where a quick panned-in, close up reveals cells floating in the water Cells left over from a creature who used to dwell there.
One cell is magnified and becomes the star of the music piece. He splits in two His second self does everything he does - swims in a wiggle, a circle, and they both travel to the surface (a sewer grate) where they find themselves in a city street at night.
(0.17) They discover it's raining (0.21) They devise a plan to take over Lower East Manhattan using the rain as a stealthy mode of travel (0.29) They discover a closed art gallery and decide to break in under the door (0.36) They leak across the carpet and find themselves admiring many shiny sculptures (0.50) They move on to a part of the art gallery that has a small fountain and decide they'd like to go there, riding on evaporated rain and sewer gas (1.01) The floating cells cling to the head of a statue of a female deity and - upon contact with the art medium she is made of - begin to change the color and tonality of the medium... the woman statue in her flowing robes goes from a greenish bronze to a fiery ambler that ignites her slowly from the crown of her head to her toes (1.15) The statue comes to life and carries the cells away to another part of the art gallery
I could go on, but that's as far as these vivid thoughts go for the moment. :)
Thanks for sharing that music. Nice work. I love black notes.
Can totally see two paramecium things on the night prowl. Your imagery is very poetic. I think it would make a great animated short film.
The oubliette image reminds me of a chapter of a recent story driven video game about depression called "The Beginner's Guide", where there is a prison level that is impossible to escape.
When I wrote 0.17 I was frustrated because I wanted to create a different melody. But when you describe it as rain, I can picture that and now I like it the way it is 'cause it reminds me of a cascade of droplets.
There's something mysterious and intriguing about the minor keys that always draws me to them.
Even though the sequence lasts only about 35 seconds and repeats that sequence over and over, to me it sounds different the second, third time it repeats. I think I only start paying attention to parts of the melody after the first or second time I hear it. Maybe it doesn't sound exactly the same. I like the idea.that even though a melody was always there to begin with, it's like I need to hear it a few times before I notice the pattern.
