Newton, MS to Meridian, MS

I grew up in a suburb of Boston, MA called Newton. This is the only other Newton I've been in. Cool story, bro.

I slept in the courtyard of a Newton library. There was about four cubic inches of air space where my laptop got WiFi, and it was super fast. But if the laptop slid down my legs just a little, the signal was gone. My night was a cramped struggle for Internet.

Into Meridian, a motorcyclist got into a yelling fight with a pickup truck driver for cutting him off. I was watching inside Subway, didn't see any punches getting thrown or anybody getting physical. It was just a couple of old guys who were mad and too stubborn to apologize. But seven police cars, a fire truck, and an ambulance arrived on the scene!

This game was made for me! I wonder what prize I can get for four thousand miles.

count 'em!

Meridian has a great big recreation park built around Bonita Lake. Walking trails along the water dotted with gazebos, swinging benches, children's playgrounds, and picnic tables. Wonderful place.

I came at nine in the evening last night, there were cars parked in the lots and people strolling around. This morning from seven to eleven, there were even more joggers and parked cars. It's nice people that are making use of their park. And that it remains clean and well-maintained.

A nice young lady walking her dog at the park in the evening let me crash on her couch. She said I was probably harmless because I pet her dog. I revealed that was my ploy and she instantly saw me for the sociopath I was. But I didn't panic and kept talking, so soon she forgot all about that. ^_-

Look at her dog, though. What a darling. The dog slept on the fold-out bed with me spooning her from behind. :P

Thank you hostess for doing cool by me. I hope you find your own travel adventure when an opportunity comes, and may you meet cool people who treat you good. Be safe: don't pick up too many of us weirdos. =D.

I've been in a good mood past couple of days. Humming the "Mahna Mahna" muppet song 'round town, talking to Ulix, smiling and singing, being joyfully eccentric. But what gives, Jonathan? Normally, you are a grumpy ol' man who always finds ways to criticize things.

Well you see... My student loan repayment plan was renewed another year after I pushed papers around and made phone calls. And it looks like my car registration can be renewed and picked up in Portland, after talking to the Virginia DMV. So with those two burdens lifted off my mind, at last I can start to enjoy...

... the remaining days of my BICYCLE TRIP ACROSS THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES OF MURICA WATEVA WAT OMG I DONBELIEVE. lelOLoL

  1. What a nice and trusting lady. Did she know you were a serial dog spooner though? ...
